Tips for not letting the cold air in
My room is on the first floor of my apartment and it is right by the front door. There is a heater in my room but some days like today when it is single digits it just run constantly because of the draft from the front door. This door gets opened throughout the day so tapeing it shut isn't really an option, But a towel on the bottom might be a temporary fix?. Is there anything I can do more permanently to make my room warmer with the front door?
Don't really want to buy a single room heater |

Re: Tips for not letting the cold air in
Seal the door off with insulation, use the window to get in and out.

Re: Tips for not letting the cold air in
Put some weather stripping in the door.
Also, the towel at the bottom is pretty good. If you want something a little nicer looking than a towel on the floor, there are things sold just for this. Sorry I don't remember what they're called, but it's effectively the same thing as a rolled up towel, only... not a towel. Target or stores like Bed Bath & Beyond and Linens N Things probably have these. |

Re: Tips for not letting the cold air in
This might work for you
Door Jamb Weatherstrip For a more complete, long term solution you can go with this kind of door weatherstrip, which are pretty much a combination of the door jamb thing above and a threshold with vinyl insert. The second option would be better suited to the main door, not the door to your room. You could probably make something on your own with a towel and a staple gun (just throwing out some ideas...). |
