Default User Login....turnoff?

The website I brainstorming right now is going to involve users the ability to add content (not a wiki). How much is it a turn off is it for a first time visitor to see that you have to log in to do anything. You can still browse without logging in but to add something you have to log in.

Will I turn away too many people at first?

Having to log in to contribute is standard. As long as they can browse the site without registering people shouldn't be annoyed.
