Default KK out of position and an Ace flops

2/5 at the Orleans. I've got $700 in the BB. Five limpers to me and I make it $35 to go with two black Kings. Two EP limpers call. EP1 has me covered and is a tight, tricky player. EP2 is a loose tourist who likes splashing around in pots with goofy hands.

Flop: A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

First dilemma: do I bet out?

I checked. EP1 bets $50. EP2 calls. Odd bet by EP1 and an obvious diamond draw by EP 2. I'm either folding or raising here, right? I raise to $150, as I think there's a good chance EP1 has a weak ace and he's shown he can lay down such hands to pressure. After some thought though, he calls. EP2 folds.

Turn is the 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I bet $200. (someone please explain why I did this!) EP1 pushes. I fold. He shows me pocket 4s and commends my laydown. I sulk, wondering why I put $350 into the pot with KK when there was an Ace on board and the villain showed no signs of going anywhere.

Blah.

Looking back, I prefer leading out on the flop for the same kind of bet EP1 did - something like half the pot. If I get raised, I'm done with the hand. Of course, if I just get called, then what?

Of lead flop, check/call or check/raise, check/raise is by far the worst. Check/fold is pretty weak sauce, but with the bet and call I might just do it. The other option is to bet and fold to any further resistance.

Dom,

Check fold is not too weak if tourist can't lay down a weak ace.

In most cases, I'd lead the flop and if called, check fold the turn. You are representing AK and unless you have a read that a second barrel gets a fold, I'd shut down after I get called on the flop.

Hopefully we will see you and the other Vegas SSNLers at the end of the month.
