Re: Who has the highest \"Cuba number?\"
[ QUOTE ]
Because it's the epitome of everyone involved in a movie, from cast to producer, selling out. [/ QUOTE ] How can they all be sell outs if people enjoyed the movie? Quoting from Wikipedia... "Garnering largely positive reviews and high box office earnings, the film was a critical and financial success. The role reversal between Travolta and Cage was a subject of praise, as were the stylized, violent action sequences. Critic Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times remarked that "Here, using big movie stars and asking them to play each other, Woo and his writers find a terrific counterpoint to the action scenes: All through the movie, you find yourself reinterpreting every scene as you realize the "other" character is "really" playing it."[10] Rolling Stone's Peter Travers said of the film, "You may not buy the premise or the windup, but with Travolta and Cage taking comic and psychic measures of their characters and their own careers, there is no resisting Face/Off. This you gotta see."[11]" |

Despite the fact that Mel Gibson's gone 'round the bend lately, he turned out a bunch of great movies early in his career and a bunch of varied performances as well. See Mad Max, Tim, Gallipoli, Road Warrior, The Year Of Living Dangerously, and The Bounty.

Re: Who has the highest \"Cuba number?\"
I think actors tend to give pretty uniform-quality performances throughout their mature careers but if you're talking about good actors who have lousy project selection skills, I'm gonna throw Ben Kingsley and Nicole Kidman out there

[ QUOTE ] all, the only non-coen movies i have seen goodman in have been abortions like coyote ugly, evan almighty, the flintstones, etc. other than that he has done a bunch of made-for-tv crap and cartoons that people don't even take into account here because it is such crap that nobody saw it. i absolutely love goodman in coen bros. flicks. i don't think anyone else could have played walter sobchak better. i'm just saying, the man has never met a straight-to-DVD project he didn't want to gobble up like a jelly donut. [/ QUOTE ] king ralph ruled. [/ QUOTE ] I'm glad someone agrees with me. |

What about David Spade?
Tommy Boy was great, and perhaps the Emperor's New groove was 5ish, but other than that (Joe Dirt, Black Sheep, Dickie Roberts, Benchwarmers) everything he has acted in has been a complete waste of calories my eyes burned from watching his movies. |

Re: Who has the highest \"Cuba number?\"
Jim Carrey. Only good role was in the first Ace Ventura, which I'd give about an 8.5.
Yes, Dumb and Dumber, as well as his acting, sucked. /thread |
