Re: Little help with 89s please
what was your reasoning for raising the flop?
what was your reasoning for checking the turn? just curious. |

Re: Little help with 89s please
Unless you have a read on the CO as overly aggressive with nekkid aces I think you are in trouble. On the flop you are getting odds to call for the draws but the raise is spew unless cut off is an idiot. Then the check on the turn is just awful. You show aggression on the flop and don't follow through with it on the next street.
There is no point in being aggressive on one street and passive on the next when a blank hits. To sum up: Call the flop Fold the turn |

Re: Little help with 89s please
I probably fold the flop ... but if you c/r the flop you have to lead the turn

: Toxic grunch - may be harmful :
You've check raised the flop with bottom pair and backdoor draws. In the process you knocked somebody out of the pot you would have preferred to have stayed. The turn doesn't help you so there's no point seeing the river; you don't have the odds to hit another 8. You DO have the odds to hit an 8 OR 9 I believe, but we don't know that a 9 will be enough to win. Don't check raise the flop, just call there. Fold turn. No. Wait. Fold to the flop bet. |

Interesting flop play. I wouldn't have thought to do that, but since you did, I think you can very safely bet/fold the turn. Even with checking the turn, Villian doesn't seem concerned with the dreaded double check-raise, so you are likely way behind and I think it's time to dump this one. |

Fold PF, if that didn't work I would fold the flop.

Fold PF, if that didn't work I would fold the flop. [/ QUOTE ] Preflop is just fine calling just a single SB from the, er, BB. Flop is interesting. I mean, if we assume we have five outs then we would have odds to peel if we were closing the action, and checkraising may buy us a free card if we got it HU with a surprised CO who only bet out because it was checked to him. I understand the play, but I think the possibility that MP is slowplaying something (this flop hits lots of raising hands) makes this just too dangerous to try. Whether to call or fold the flop...I dunno, guess it depends on what you think MP1 will do. Ah, the joys of playing OOP :/ |
