Default Top pair - Pot control ?

I often read that you do not want to put in all your money with just one pair. Let’s say that you have a stack of 100 BB.

I get dealt A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and open the pot for 4BB
One player behind me calls, the blinds fold.

Flop: 2players pot 10BB

A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img],6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I have top pair and I have to protect my hand from a straight and flush draw.

I bet the pot 10BB, Villain calls.

Turn: Pot 30BB

Q: [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I bet the pot again 30BB. Villain calls.

Turn: Pot 90BB

Now here my troubles start:

A. Have I bet to much?
B. I bet 35% of my stack, is that normal?
C. Should I check here?

I guess this is a WA/WB situation. I would think that villain is on the draw, but he could also have a bigger A, two pair or a set.

If I think that my OP is on a draw i have to bet at least half the pot, and then my hole stack is gone with just one pair. And from what i read on this forum that is conciderd a begginer mistake

I often read on this forum about pot control. If I have understood the concept correctly it means that I should keep the pot small when I have a small hand like this one. Right?

I guess what I am asking is about a “default” top pair line? Have I understood the pot control concept?

Thanks

don't build big pots with weak hands OOP. it just makes your sucky hand harder and harder to get away from. don't pot it twice in a row. there are probably only a small # of times when it's necessary to bet the pot.

I'm new to NL, but I'll take a stab at it:

A) Yes, you bet too much. If you bet the turn you should bet less on the turn, maybe 2/3 pot. If Villain is behind has ~20% chance to improve. If he is ahead you are drawing slim to dead (if you are dominated you have 3 outs, if he has 76 you are in slightly better shape). I would consider checking here and seeing what Villain does.

B) I don't think so.

C) I don't know. What card came on the river?
