Default Can I win $30/hour playing 25NL?

Simple question really. Obviously you don't all know me or know how good I am, so here are some starters:

1) I am a mathematician.
2) My plan is to play poker for ten hours a week to supplement my income while taking a PhD.
3) I am currently one-tabling 10NL and crushing it.

So my question is not really can I beat 25NL for $30 per hour, but is that win rate attainable by a reasonably smart, learning player two-tabling?

Obviously I intend to practice good bankroll management, and will move up to 50NL if/when my bankroll justifies it.

No, you have to play more tables to achieve that win-rate.

Assuming a win rate of 5PTBB per 100 hands per table. If you 12 table, thats 60PTBB per 100 hands per 12 tables.

In one hour, you can get around 750 hands in, so that's 60*750/100*0.5 = $22.50 per hour

No, absolutely impossible on two tables.

Easy math: One PTBB at this level is 50 cents, so for $30/hr you'd need to win 60 PTBBs per hour. A decent winrate at 25NL is 5 BB/100, then you'd need to play 1200 hands for your 60 BBs. If you're very good, you might win 10 BB/100 and make 60 BBs in 600 hands. Two-tabling, you'd need to play 300 hands per hour per table, or one every twelve seconds. Assuming, you are crushing the games, that is. If you are only a decent winner, you'd have to play faster, obv.

Is 25NL significantly harder to beat than 10NL?

I ask because 5PTBB/100 would be $0.60 per hour per table at 10NL (using your estimate of around 60 hands per hour) and I have to say, it can be beat for a LOT more than that!

a mathematician...that can't figure out the basic premise of x # of hands X achievable bb/100...wow.

i think "crushing" NL10 is slightly different than anything else. NL10, as long as you aren't AI w/ KQ preflop, i think you can do well.

I beg your pardon? Can you point me to where I couldn't make that calculation?

I'm basically asking what rate 25NL can be beat at, and I queried the claim of 5PTBB/100 because it seems much lower than my experience at 10NL.

If 25NL can be beat as hard as 10NL, then $7.50 per table per hour ought to be possible - so okay that implies four tables needed, but not TWELVE!

$7.50 ph is 25PTBB/100 btw, which is very high but what can I say? They are currently paying me at that rate on 10NL, easily.

Maybe I'm just running good.

Small sample size here, but I have been playing NL (in home games and tournaments) for quite a while.
