flopped bottom set...should I have played this differently?
Bigger bet on the flop maybe?

Re: flopped bottom set...should I have played this differently?
UTG's flop bet is a nuisance because it forces me to give away the strength of my hand more than I'd like to (I'd rather bet like $5 myself than have to raise to that, for instance). Still, getting called by J9o is a pretty great result for you, even if he hit runner-runner this time.
In any case, you're short-stacked and your goal is to get all-in, although that turn card kinda sucks, and I can't really blame you for just calling when you've got a $1 flop bettor waking up in front of you and a flop caller behind you (although Button is going to pop it with a flush anyway). |

Re: flopped bottom set...should I have played this differently?
I mean no offense when I ask this but why would I put it all in on the turn? With the way the flop played out shouldn't I assume one of the 2 hit their flush? If my assumption is correct then I'd be betting $22 into an $18 pot and drawing to 10 outs.

Re: flopped bottom set...should I have played this differently?
I agree completely with your first paragraph...I'm not really mad that I lost the hand considering what he called with and that it took him runner-runner to draw out but is this a situation where I should bet more than 50-75% of the pot?

[/ QUOTE ] I don't know. I tend to pot it (because of the flush draw -- well, and also because I would pot it with AJ) and blast everyone out of the hand . I'm new to NL and bet-sizing is still something I'm working on. I'm pretty sure your stack size is a factor here. I think your stack size should make you tend to raise a little less than you would if you were deeper, with the plan of pushing on most turns, but I'm not sure. |
