This meshes with my experience - I was in Canada for an extended weekend which included my birthday, when my DL expired. Thankfully I was early enough that there was time for the full bag search and reasonable friendly patdown.

You can fly even without a photo ID as I lost mine last trip to Vegas. They let me on the flight, just put me through secondary screening.

If you have your birth certificate, you can get a new US passport in under 24 hours.

You don't have to provide ID, you just get the extra cavity search option. It isn't really a lot more than the regular screening. No big deal.

WTF are other states different or something??? In NH you just walk up to the DMV pay $50 or whatever and 30 seconds later have a new license.

I lost my ID one night when I went out drinking. I got a temp one which was just a sheet of paper that i used until I lost it when I went out drinking.
