so something I just realized which is kind of funny, is that as my Pippin-peek on night 2 I peeked Herbie (who was Sauron- KM had peeked VR). So the night I got lynched had I voted for Fmx or Mark it would have been a flip since my vote counted for 2.

That looks about right.

If I ran this game, I would've given Gandalf double-vote instead of seering, and I think that would still be village balanced (though less so, obviously).

And yes, good wolves can level, but really, mouth of sauron is worth less than a normal wolf (and it's not close).

Yes, the Mouth of Sauron was (intentionally) worth less than a normal wolf.

Otherwise, Gandalf/Aragorn/Frodo/Sam had consistent roles across the trilogy (as did Sauron, with minor variations, and the Witch-King), and there was no reason to change that.

Theoden can say "I am Theoden."

I think sighing underestimates this power huge.

This game would also be better if no one knew what all the roles were (though I generally don't like this setup, but that's the only way having more power villagers than wolves works at all).

Btw, most people who think it's easy to design one of these things in balance go and run one and then it ends on Day 4 in a blowout

durron's modifications:

original
village: 36.5
wolf: 24.5

village tweaks:
king theoden: -1
aragorn: -1.5
unmaking the ring: +.5

net: -2

wolf tweaks:
oliphant rider: +1
stealing the ring: +2.5
mouth of sauron: +1
witch-king: +1

net: +4.5

village: 34.5
wolf: 30

so slight village edge. not huge like luckay originally said. most of the other possible changes favor the wolves, like:

gandalf worth slightly less (no n0 peek)
sauron worth slightly more
stealing the ring worth slightly more

so yeah.

Well, in all 3 games, make Gandalf double-vote instead of seer, and you have probably better games (though probably more wolf walks because village really sucked in this series).

Theoden dies if role-blocked. So that would give the wolves a free kill.

I think lastchance underestimates the importance of reading the power list.

Durron, 4 or 5 points is like a wolf or a seer.

That's still a freaking lot.

Once the witch-king dies, a claimable role is pretty much worth the extra-kill.

So yeah... I realize that. Even with that tweak, village is like a wolf/seer up.

Hopefully nobody's tweaking power lists here in the expectation that I'm reading them and taking notes
