Default Obama\'s Internet Money Flop

The team over in Obamaland decided it would be a cool idea to copy Ron Paul. They began by trying to raise 5 mil in 24 hours like DR Paul. Looks like they have now lowered the bar to 1 million. As of 5:24 EST they have > $5000 from 60 ppl.

The Obama fundraiser link

You have got to be kidding me.

Obama's one day record is between $5.5 and 6.5 million, I forget which. Overall, Obama raised $80 million through the 3rd quarter. Including Paul's 4th quarter, he raised $15 million.

2nd, this was not an Obama organized fundraiser. This was one idiot supporter who didn't realize the months of groundwork and internet spamming necessary for Paul to get his $4 million.

I don't think any of Obama's staff was involved in organizing this. The way it works is, any of Obama's supporters can get a page on Obama owned servers to discuss how they are going to help the candidate. Notice the "report objectionable content" button on the page: Obama doesn't control the page, so he needs people reporting idiots similar to the notify moderator button on 2+2. It gives people a sense of accomplishment to know how much money they raised for the candidate.

Not really. The Nov 5 thing was originally organized by a supporter and was adopted by the Paul Campaign late.

Iron appears to be right on here. I at first laughed hysterically when I saw this in the other thread. But unfortunately it appears to be a non-issue.

Still seems pathetic. But I'm not sure exactly why or what it's a reflection of. Just a small reflection of a campaign that doesn't rely as heavily on efficient grassroots organization I guess. And granted it's just one incident, so like Iron is saying it isn't a big deal, but I think the fact that Obama's campaign does not heavily involve grassroots efforts is telling in that it's contradictory to the type of candidate he tries to represent himself as.

So while it's true that this is just one idiot with a bad strategy, I think it's worth paying attention to how exactly Obama does get his money.
