Re: I am no longer tipping the dealers at CAZ until.......(long)
I'm not going to read 14 pages of this, but it strikes me that the a lot of times this sort of monkey business is going to give you an advantage. Seems like the obvious way to deal with this is to take money off the people who are doing it.

Re: I am no longer tipping the dealers at CAZ until.......(long)
I see this kind of stuff alot at Foxwoods. But, though the Floor has a bad reputation, they will crack down on this kind of behavior as will many dealers.
I got into it after a hand was over, with a guy across the table who was coaching another player at showdown to just lay down his cards with a four flush on board. It turns out this player aside from being somebody I didn't like at the time, is a huge donor. A few weeks later I almost didn't sit to his immediate left with two seats open because of my dislike. I came to my senses, sat to his left and proceeded to have a huge day (he lost >2 racks, I won >2 racks). Turns out he is an OK guy with a decent sense of humor who is basically clueless about poker etiquete. In the future, I will make a point of talking to him privately and point out that he wouldn't want another player helping an opponent of his during a hand... Howard, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I identify with the passive/aggressive impulse and the "this is the last time I say anything about this" martyr approach. Neither are effective because they lack any communication whatsoever from you to the people who could do something. Behavior takes time to change whether it be in a single individual or in an institution. What is great about your crusade to change the clearly subpar environment at CAZ is that it seems to have caught the attention of senior management there and they seem to want to do something about it. Because you started this, my guess is that they will take your opinion to heart. This is a huge opportunity for you to have an impact there. I hope you let them know if and when you start to see the delinquent behavior appearing again and not dealt with appropiately by the dealers and/or the Floor. Great posts and I always enjoy reading your thoughts/opinions. |

Re: I am no longer tipping the dealers at CAZ until.......(long)
This afternoon at Casino AZ 5-150 I saw a player flash his cards to another player as he folded. It was out of the corner of my eye so I couldn't tell if anyone still in the hand saw it, but immediately, and totally unprompted, the dealer mildly reproached the player ("hon, you can't do that") and showed his hand to the table.
Sounds like Howard is having an effect. |
