The lack of interest in this thread speaks volumes for how little chance any game has at overtaking no-limit hold 'em. Even 2+2ers don't care about HORSE very much.

[/ QUOTE ]

True. People claim they want to watch something other than no-limit holdem on occasion, but they really don't.

[/ QUOTE ]

hold'em is easy to view on TV. The other games aren't and suffer accordingly, especially with showing, what, 10% of the hands played?

[/ QUOTE ]

well, don't overlook how much trouble they had putting up
percentage graphics for the hi/lo games!!

Yellow is low -- blue is high, a card with blue and yellow
means it plays both ways... then they have to shade out
the cards ( in stud ) that don't play at all...

there was something else where a little red mark meant
something --- like the ace is high and low, i think...

coverage of the event was good imo.

[/ QUOTE ]

I watched the coverage casually. But, I don't ever remember hearing the term "live cards" during the stud hands. Unless I missed it, that alone means the stud coverage was weak.

Live cards are to stud what kickers are to hold 'em.

How good would hold 'em coverage be if the analyst never mentioned the value of kickers?

The O/8 coverage seemed better since the importance of scooping and the abysmal value of middle cards was mentioned several times.

*psst - Dynasty - half these people posting here don't know that about live cards in stud either*

I'd rather they keep the analysis in the flop games. Norm's first-level analysis is plenty for the casual stud watcher.

What's up with John Hanson not even moving when Phil Hellmuth came by. Bruno gave Phil a hug and Freddy gave him a hug, but John just sat in his chair and stared down at the table. I'm not Hellmuth fan, but wtf?

[/ QUOTE ]
WTF was Hellmuth doing there anyway? It seemed almost as out of place as his visit on PAD during the female donkeys week.

[/ QUOTE ]

you idiot!!!
at the wsop.. they have former champions make appearances at final tables often. they announce the past champion and the crowd does the applause thing and the champ walks up to the table and wishes the players luck. espn usually edits it out.

hellmuth may come across to a lot of players as beatable... or weak .. or many things.. but at the wsop... he's a god. he deserves respect. whether you acknowledge it or not.. he desrves it.

John Hanson:

1) Nice suckout on Freddy in Stud/8
2) Nice douchebag comments to Freddy afterwards
3) Nice hat, tool

Just after calling with Jack high Kenny went on to give most of his chips to Deeb with a couple of hands where he was calling with the worse hand.

"Sick call Kenny" or "Calling station Kenny"? You decide!

[/ QUOTE ]

Kenny lost most of his chips during razz.
Kenny had never played razz before. The announcer said someone spent two minutes explaining the game to Kenny.
When you don't know a game, you should err on the side
of playing too conservatively. Kenny should have folded
most to all the razz hands. Wait for the next game.

Didn't Kenny say that playing Razz is easy, and it's all about reading your opponent and not your own cards? Oops.

Yes, the announcer said that of Kenny also. During the live HORSE updates it was obvious Kenny was playing too many hands.
