good timing for this move?

Villain and hero have played a lot together, probably views me as too LAG but dangerous. he's relatively tight though he does make some moves.

effective 3K stacks

1 limper, Hero in CO with Jc10c bets 80, villain calls in BB, limper folds

Flop:
K 8 4
Villain checks, Hero checks

Turn: Q
villain checks, Hero bets 150, villain raises to 500, Hero quickly bets to 1800

this looked like a good spot to 3 bet, i couldn't put anything too strong in his range, especially since he checked both the flop and turn. it smelled like a move by him to try to take it from me after i checked behind on the flop. you like?

looks petty bad IMO especially given stacks. Sure are risking a lot to win <$1K pot.

You're pretty much repping a set and set only, whether he buys it or not depends entirely on your image at the time and your history.
If you've been very active at the table you'll probably get looked up if he actually has a K, if not then you should be able to get away with it, though I'd make the re-raise smaller, to maybe 1400, as I think you'd do in real life with a really big hand on that board.

this is more of a 'feel' move by me, than a hand that can merit much discussion i guess. after he checked twice, i didn't put him on a K. it looked like a steal by me on the turn, so that's why i three bet. it was nice to pick up some out withs the OESD on the turn, but in this spot i would this with anything the way the hand played out.

as for the line, its meh but probably effective. history helps. and i think just betting the flop is probably way better than checking behind and making moves, unless he has seen you check behind strong (KQish) hands here.

also why wouldnt he c/r the turn with a strong hand? don't you usually bet the turn in this spot with almost anything?
