Applying WLLHE/SSHE/HPFAP to micro games
I've always thought the opinion was that "Winning Low Limit Holdem" was a good starter book for no-fold'em games while Small Stakes Holdem was better once you moved up a few levels. Then HPFAP was required once you moved up a few more levels still.
Does anyone here who has moved though the micro levels have any thoughts on this? If someone started at the lowest of the low, say .02/.04, what book would you suggest to them for that level and roughly when you would recommend they read the others as far as moving up goes?

WLLH is a beginner's book and has serious errors and failures of logic at any stakes*, but probably won't get you killed at 1/2 and below or so. If you "get" SSH then unlearn WLLH as soon as possible.
*my personal favorite is the advice of when to stop raising the nuts on the river when there's no cap but you might be chopping. I'm not kidding; the advice is "eight or nine bets". That's probably the single most weak-tight idea I have ever seen in print.

[/ QUOTE ] Definitely. To add .02 worth even some of the nano limit games are tight enough so the "tougher/tighter" games hand selection and thought processes in SSHE are applicable. Not all are tight but some.

I haven't read it but I heard there was suppossedly alot fixed for the 3rd ed.

3rd ed is the only one I've read completely; I "bought" it with some stars FPPs I had lying around just because I figured it might be worth having in my collection.

I read the 2nd ed of WLLH & scanned the 3rd, and his advice on AK from teh BB with option, completely floored as it changes with each edition: 1st: check, 2nd: raise, 3rd: check. Like, if you can't make up your mind, why should I read your book?

read WLLHE if you are a total newby (optional). read SSHE over and over until books binding deteriorates(required). start at .02/.04. crush. kill. destroy. move up fast, but within bankroll. crush. kill. destroy. read HPFAP and ToP on your way skyward.

In all seriousness---If you know the basic rules of poker, just start w/ SSHE in my opinion. It is applicable at .02/.04 and .05/.10.
