Default Tender Skin not going away

For about a month or so, I had a cut on my arm that was bandaged and held onto my skin by hypoallergenic tape (special medical tape that is basically supposed to be more gentle on the skin). Now that I've taken the tape off, the skin under the tape is reddish/brownish and seems to be very tender. I figure the tape must have ripped some of my skin off over time and caused this "bruised" look. The cut itself has healed by the way.

It's been more than 2 weeks since I've taken the tape off and the tender skin is still there and doesn't seem to be improving at all.

What should I do to speed up the skin's healing process? I'm really getting worried that these "bruise" marks aren't going to go away.

can anyone help? I'd rather not have to go to the doctors if I can just apply some vitamin E to it, but I'm not sure if that would help.
