onlinebeginner, the difference between mariano and edwar in your example you gave is insignificant. i know you think mariano is a god and cannot be replaced, but torre's costing his team maybe .3 games per year with his bullpen management strategy. MAYBE. [/ QUOTE ] ya because farnsworth hasn't been the one taking moes place for most of the year... that's one example of mismanagement that could cost them 0-2 games a year depending on variance theres also many other types of poor management, such as destoying tanyon sturtze's arm... acutally i don't feel the need to list examples... it's obvious to anyone i have a hard time believing that with better bullpen management they would only improve their expected wins by .3...i would guess about 5-10 times that.... .3 seems pretty specific.... mind showing how you came up with that number |

Torre's biggest fault is having a closer and using him to get saves instead of putting Mo in for every game in the 8th on that is +1/tied/-1. If he did this alone, he'd probably be one of the best in MLB at managing his bullpen. |

Re: ~~~ OFFICIAL YANKEES 2007 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS OR BUST THREAD ~~
ya and my "guesstimate" is about 5 to 10 times that...given that this type of decision making is only in close games... so one of these runs is worth more than usual

Re: ~~~ OFFICIAL YANKEES 2007 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS OR BUST THREAD ~~
I know I am biased but I honestly think that was lame by the blue jays. you thew behind him yesterday, it was over after that, no need to throw at hes knees again today. towers are stairs were pretty obviously the ones antagonizing everything, just play the game. plus all it is going to do is get the better team pissed off and playing hard, and clemens is on the mound.
edit- yeah it was definitely intentional. 2 outs, runner on 3rd and it went right at arods knees, and towers is not a wild pitcher at all. arod looked at towers like "WTF dude? I was thrown at yesterday" and towers walked way towards home pointing to first and saying stuff. |
