The Jerk.

Now for my question: how do you think the new gaming regulation is going to affect you personally?

are you going to let the wife read your well thread? i mean, this is a monumental occassion in your life.

[/ QUOTE ]

If she wants, but she won't. She stays away from 2p2 and I stay away from whatever crap it is she reads on the Interweb.

Edit: Sorry I gave your closing comment such short shrift, Miles. In my personal Pantheon of life achievements, being in The Well ranks right ahead of getting my DUI and right behind failing to defend my Beer-Foosball title at the Princeton-Yale game my third year out of college because I was in a corner of the poolroom of my club in the fetal position suffering from a crushing migrane.

Give that man a cigar...or a delicious bass (Napoleon Dynamite reminded me a lot of The Jerk for some reason).

Yes, I still play online, and, no, I'm not panicked about the legislation. Someday, somehow, I'll get my money out of UB and 'Stars, until then, it's entertainment.

Okay, here's a different question for you Boz: how much (if any) no-limit and short handed limit do you play. I keep hearing that's where the fishies are most likely to be found nowadays, but I have low variance tolerance and avoid both.

I dabble in NL (as well as Razz, O8, Stud, yada yada) as I believe it is good to be well-rounded, as a poker player as well as a person.

Edited to add: NL is especially helpful in hand-reading, O8 is an excellent place to go to tighten up your game if you're feeling a bit LAGgy, and the rest of the games are good to play so you'll recognize them when your jack</u>ass neighbor breaks them out at the Sunday afternoon game. Anybody wanna play a little "Rasik"?)

I'll only play SH if I'm at a full table and everybody bails out because I'm picking on them, and there has to be an uber-fish still hanging around pissed off at me for me to do it then. I am a) also variance- and stress-averse, and b) not playing for money, particularly, since I can't get it out, anyway. I also live about 10 miles from the Commerce, Hustler and Bicycle casinos...if I wanted to go fishing, I'd play live.

Well, if the Feds actually manage to coerce the banks into enforcing the UIG, uh, hmmm, LMNOP for them, then it's going to be illegal for the bank to accept transactions of any sort from any gambling-related Internet sites (unless, of course, the wagering is skill-based, such as on horses, dogs, or state lotteries...throw a brick into the crowd at the Kentucky Derby and your chance of hitting a Dem is only about 1 in 500, but that's just a coincidence). So, until this legislation is for whatever reason* declared null and void, I'm assuming that my monies on deposit with 'Stars and UB are irretrievable.

*Much like Prohibition, the current legislation is a thinly-veiled attempt to declare something de facto illegal, rather than per se, and, like Prohibition, it will fall under the weight of attempting to enforce it.

Yeah, but the leg hasn't begun to be enforced, yet. We're still in the 270-day "figgering it out" period. That said, I am a little leery of bouncing money around the way I did before the leg passed, however, as I don't want it to get stuck in some sort of administrative limbo should something abruptly change. I figure that by keeping what I'm playing with just at the site for now, I'm limiting my exposure just to getting screwed by the site, which I think is of the lowest order of likelihood.
