El Gaucho is fine, but GoT can second me when I say that it's overrated and overpriced. Daniel's pwns.

[/ QUOTE ]
It's a bit overpriced I guess compared to Danny's, but not at all compared to like 10 other places I could name, so I don't really think of it as overpriced. It's better than, say, The Met at the same price or Ruth Chris' at just slightly more, and there are a ton of places that don't even bother trying to put together a decent steak and still charge $35 (Manzana, etc). So meh, I wouldn't call it overpriced. Plus, their sides are better than Danny's imo (best scalloped potatoes I've ever had), and their banana's foster is ridiculously good, this coming from someone who almost never orders a dessert not named coffee. Anyway, when I think "overpriced steak" I def don't think El Gaucho. Where else beside Daniel's do you think it's overpriced in comparison with?

What about Jak's in West Seattle?

I like the Jak's in Issaquah. Not sure if it varies by location. I haven't had a bad steak there. I need to go to Daniel's to compare though.

The best Mexican place I've been to is a little place in Chehalis. Can't remember what it's called, but their specialty is Mexican pork dishes, and they are awesome. Very no frills, traditional Mexican, not the decorated-up kind of place. Special bisonbison tidbit: I guess when she has been in Seattle, Salma Hiyak has specifically driven down there to eat at this place.

This thread really reminds me that we really need to do a homegame soon.

Yeah, for sure - we always need more players. We're pretty degenerate, though, and we don't play any regular games. Typical lineup is:

-Double flop Omaha (sometimes with a bonus board)
-Double flop Hold 'em
-Second best Hold 'em (god i suck at this game)
-Triple Draw / Badugi
-Chinese Poker

So you better brush up!

We're going to need to play puppet next time too (though not sure what antes since that game gets sick pretty quickly).

NO 2ND BEST HOLD EM

If you math nerds want to jerk off, go find a closet, that game sucks balls.

Sigh. This thread makes me miss Seattle. Thanks jerks.

New, how are you liking/disliking Houston so far? Also, it's funny that Seattle has such a reputation for rain. More rain has probably been dumped on Houston since June 1, than will in 2007 in Seattle!

Can anyone recommend some 24 hour restaurants in Seattle, relatively close to the U District, maybe 15-20 minutes away? I know of Beth's, Denny's, and the Gyrocery is close to 24, but that's all.

Oh man, the Gyrocery is awesome.

Unfortunately I don't know of any 24 hour places besides the ones you named and 13 Coins over by Mercer.
