Default Russia/Iran Foreign Policy Question

Can anyone tell me why Russia would, post-cold war, continue to frustrate US attempts to control Iran's nuclear ambitions?

Also, why would Russia sell Iran missile systems?

Thanks in advance.

Should the US be allowed to "control Iran" in any way?
