Re: something im doing almost always now...
"what this does is it steals position back on the flop. they now have to act first."
This is not true. You have already acted. He can check without having to consider what you will then do; a player truly out of position does not have this luxury. You have given him the opportunity to get a free card. Seems more like taking the safe route of teeing off with a mid-iron than using a powerful driver . . . |

We Luddites hate the flat mode. How can you tell who's responding to whom?

Re: What are you looking for?
The chances of him folding it if I donk are probably greater than zero, once he bets the flop it will never happen. The point is if I'm going to semibluff in that spot I think a donk is the best play.

i dont know golf so i cant continue in that vein.
as for they can check, that's true and if they start liberally checking behind i will have to adjust the strategy, but so far they bet bet bet. |

Re: What are you looking for?
Nice post. I don't play live and generally find it to be way too slow, but your description here makes it sound fascinating. Well done.
good luck. eric |

Re: something im doing almost always now...
It's a fine way to play, lots of players essentially play this way online.
For someone with your apparent tell-gathering ability though, I'd think this would be a better plan: - watch the player - look at the flop - decide what to do Why put money in the pot, or check dark, when your opponent will probably be sending off signals before you act? Out of curiosity, are you making it obvious to your opponents that you have not looked at the flop, or just not looking but keeping that information to yourself? I could imagine that making it obvious could make some live opponents really uncomfortable, which might lead to more obvious tells for you to pick up on. good luck. eric |

Although I dont know what that word means yet, Im ready to join the club. [/ QUOTE ] Luddite: [n. LUH-dite] The noun Luddite specifically refers to one of a group of early 19th century English workmen who were campaigning against the automation of the power loom. Under cover of night and generally masked, the workers often destroyed the equipment that had displaced them. Today the word broadly refers to anyone who is opposed to technological change or new working methods. The name Luddite is presumed to come from the leader of these angry workmen. The Luddites or Ludds were a social movement of English workers in the early 1800s who protested – often by destroying textile machines – against the changes produced by the Industrial Revolution that they felt threatened their jobs. The movement which begun in 1811 was named after a probably mythical leader, Ned Ludd. For a short time the movement was so strong that it clashed in battles with the British Army. |

yes. it gives the impression of being even more action than i am. put another way: im action, but not anywhere as action as i seem. bad players cant tell the difference though. |

Re: something im doing almost always now...
Mike,
Thoughts on betting the flop right as it's dealt, as opposed to before it's dealt? I did that a couple of times this weekend sort of semi-intentionally* -- I make a lot of semi-intentional tells since I'm sure I make a lot of unintentional tells. |
