UB Aruba... Overcharged?
So UB's Aruba event is coming up. There were running sats for this for months. The took $10K from the prize pool for each winner, and raked each sat 10%.
Each winner gets the following: $5200 entry into tournament 2 round trip tickets to Aruba ($1200) 7 nights hotel ($1400) Plus a few catered parties, shirts, blah, blah, blah. It looks to me that they have grossly overvalued the prize and are most likely pocketing at least $1500 per sat prize. Am I missing something here? |

The hotel is like $250/night.
Still overcharged a bit, I agree. |

Re: UB Aruba... Overcharged?
I just got back from a two week trip to aruba (business, not pleasure). Be prepared to be overcharged for everything there. Food is generally low quality and a sit down dinner will cost you 30+. Drinks are either normal strength and half the size or full size and half the booze, but still same full price. Also, don't know if you get to keep the remaining money from airfare but you can get down pretty cheap on american. It's only around 250$ round trip from miami and only cost me 450$ from boston, booking a week in advance.

Re: UB Aruba... Overcharged?
if you live in miami or lucky enough to have one of the few east coast cities with direct flights, it probably is. However, anyone on the west coast has own flight costs that would be substantially more expensive, and I believe csc and I have hotel for more than 7 nights.
