Default Software for recording poker sessions

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum...

I am interested in purchasing recording software for my computer but have little knowledge of the difference between different brands. Specifically, I would like to record my poker sessions and have the ability to add commentary as I play.

A 2p2er suggested Camtasia, but it costs ~$300.

A quick google search uncovered CamStudioPro, which touts itself as the cheaper (in terms of price) version of Camtasia and only costs ~$30.

Do any of you have experience with either of these pieces of software?

hey guys, im trying to use camstudio to record playing. it comes out fine in windows media player but in VLC, divx etc it just seems to have audio with no visual success. it compresses with the Microsoft video 1 codec....anyone know how to edit this in any way with macs or like...at all so that i can send the file around and it can play in multiple players? Thanks.

ok guys, any help appreciated.. I've been messing around with this for a while now with limited success..

I downloaded camtasia trial version a while ago and it's worked fine with a short ..say 1 min session... but when i tried to do say 30 mins when i click save the whole thing froze up... I left it over night but no success and had to end the process manually... i've tried this several times but the same thing happens... any ideas?

I then tried the free camstudio... the video comes out fine but the audio is way out of sync

After installing Quadcore CPU and 4GB fast RAM + RAID0 for saving the data, recording at 1600x1200 did not even make the CPU sweat the slightest bit - AND the sound was in sync all the way through.

I will try recording the full 3200x1200 the next session I play.

I think it was Dave who mentioned in another thread to use MCI recording in "Audio options", "Options for microphone" to help with the sync.
