Re: 4 bet with JJ
The thing is... how often do you squeeze a villain? Maybe once every hundred hands? Then how often does he 4bet? Maybe once every several hundred hands? How often do you have JJ? Once ever thousand hands? If you played 10k hands with this guy, and he someone looked back and tallied every single time you called or pushed against the 4bet, he might be like "wow this guy must be never folding JJ, its explouting time!"
Realistically, it just doesn't matter. |

Re: 4 bet with JJ
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Yan, You are wrong. How do we decide when to push and when to fold? Do we flip a weighted coin? [/ QUOTE ] Is this some kind of a joke or what? This is a very basic concept. How do you decide when to bluff and when to not? When to c-bet the flop? Surely you don't second barrel everytime do you? You dont c-bet 100% of the time right? Andy Beal had his watch rigged to become a Random Number Generator. I suppose you could do that. Or you could just guesstimate it like everbody else. [/ QUOTE ] The point is we shouldn't randomize our play for the sake of randomizing it. If jj is ahead of his range here we should shove. If it isn't we should fold. If his range begins to adapt we should adapt also. But for this specific hand you should make the same decision 100% of the time. |

Re: 4 bet with JJ
My cut-off for what I'm willing to go with facing resistence when I 3-bet is often (maybe not always) between JJ and QQ. I think shoving JJ here is -ev. I'd rather shove with AQ, at least you are dominated less by less hands.

Re: 4 bet with JJ
I pushed obviously and he had QQ. Just running bad today I guess. I thought it was standard as well

Always pushing or always folding is a huge leak.

Re: 4 bet with JJ
Hmm, with all this mixing up strategy stuff, I have a question that's probably more psychological. Now that Hero has shown he will 4-bet with JJ (and lost to QQ), suppose a neary identical hand comes up 40 or 50 hands later. Hero once again has JJ. Should hero shove again, or back off this time since he already showed once that he would shove with JJ?

Re: 4 bet with JJ
Versus a very tight range your equity is 38,4%. You need 39% equity (810/(810+1260) to break even. If you have some history of him resqueezing light then this is an instapush.
Otherwise it's pretty close. Text results appended to pokerstove.txt 400,679,136 games 0.005 secs 80,135,827,200 games/sec Board: Dead: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 61.617% 60.19% 01.43% 241156788 5730870.00 { JJ+, AQs+, AKo } Hand 1: 38.383% 36.95% 01.43% 148060608 5730870.00 { JJ } |
