NL50 2nd pair + straight draw v raiser
Villain is 23.5/23.5/4.5 over 34 hands and his postflop aggression is only 0.5
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Button ($45.95) SB ($47.75) Hero ($69.45) UTG ($50) MP ($55.65) CO ($50.25) Preflop: Hero is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 1 fold, MP calls $0.50, CO raises to $2, Button calls $2, 1 fold, Hero calls $1.50, MP folds. Flop: ($6.75) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) Final Pot: $6.75 the converters messing me about so what happened on the flop was that I checked, raiser bet $5 and button folded. Hero? I'm thinking he may well be raising with a fairly wide range here to isolate the limper, so a raise is probably the best play, right? |

Re: NL50 2nd pair + straight draw v raiser
I would raise because this looks like a c-bet, so you might win the pot right there, and you probably have >50% equity in the pot. You are likely to have 14 outs and almost certainly 8.
EDIT: If he reraises, I would shove (not much more left at that point). You could also fold to a reraise if you were sure he had a set (hard to tell after 40 hands) but calling a reraise would be worthless. |

Anyone else? Is raise flop and call shove very standard here?

Re: NL50 2nd pair + straight draw v raiser
Considering your reads, I doubt he bets without a decent hand, especially not in position.
I like a b3b better than a c/r. |

Re: NL50 2nd pair + straight draw v raiser
I don't like this. I guess with MP in there and Button calling, we can make a case for calling preflop, but I really really really hate playing OOP. Depending on table volume and whatnot, I think I'll often just dump it preflop. If we had a bit more than 34 hands on him, and he still had those stats, I might 3bet this PF.
For the flop, I'd say look at flop aggro/cbet #s, but 34 hands is too few for those. I call and reevaluate turn. With .5 AF he doesn't strike me as the guy that'll bet this turn without having something, he'll just check behind. |

Re: NL50 2nd pair + straight draw v raiser
I dont like calling the raise pf here. This hand plays better multi way. I dont want to call and play this hand oop when I will have to fold to a cbet most of the time. As played I prefer to lead the flop and raise if the opportunity arises.
