[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] is this going down or what? i hate that man [/ QUOTE ] Can you explain why you hate him so much? [/ QUOTE ] I think it's mostly because he's evil. [/ QUOTE ] yeah, i hear that a lot from liberals I know, then when I ask them to explain their hatred they give me this look like 'are you serious?' and then tell me something about him being evil complete with shot in the face comment. They can never answer my question. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, kind of like asking people why they voted for Bushie in 2004 "OMG John Kerry would have been the worst president EVAR." LOL....The Repubs in the House Are...
...Are once again giving Pelosi and company a chance to make fools of themselves.
It was a smart tactic by the Repubs. While the Dems debate about Cheney then: 1. They can't pass any more pork barrel spinach bills. 2. The Dems look like jackasses to swing voters which helps the Repubs in the upcoming election. This is genius! |

[/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] 1) started a war/occupation in Iraq that they knew would end up a quagmire under blatently false pretenses [/ QUOTE ] NO ONE could "know" that, including Bush/Cheney/whoever. [ QUOTE ] 2) Tortured POWs [/ QUOTE ] I'm pretty sure Cheney hasn't personally tortured anyone, and there are plenty of neo-cons in this very forum (hello Copernicus) who probably think you have a "naive" view of foreign policy by being opposed to torture. [ QUOTE ] 3) Refuses to ever speak before congress as much as humanly possible, to the point of making the assanine statement that he isn't part of the executive branch http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/0...cutive-branch/ [/ QUOTE ] This makes him "evil" how exactly? [ QUOTE ] 4) Using illlegal wiretapping on US citizens to the point of paying phone companies to set them up http://rawstory.com/news/2007/For_on...arry_1016.html [/ QUOTE ] This makes him evil "how" exactly? There are plenty of people in this very forum who will defend that practice, Copernicus probably one of them (although I could be wrong). [ QUOTE ] 5) Grown the size of the Executive branch more then any other administration in history. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/25/bo...mp;exprod=digg [/ QUOTE ] This makes him "evil" how exactly? I assume you must be an ACist? [ QUOTE ] 6) Turned Afghanastan into a gigantic scam for contractors http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?id=13518 [/ QUOTE ] I don't dispute this one but I think I might stop short of attributing it to "evil." [ QUOTE ] 7) Is arguing against American citizen's right to Habeus Corpus http://www.consortiumnews.com/2007/011807.html [/ QUOTE ] Again - plenty of people out there who support this position. Hardly pure unadulterated evil. [ QUOTE ] 8) Instructed the media to sell a War in Iran http://adereview.com/blog/?p=24 [/ QUOTE ] Again - evil how? Do you think Hillary is evil too? Do you think basically all mainstream politicians are evil? (Hill's foreign policy is not dramatically different than Bush/Cheney as has been stated multiple times.) [ QUOTE ] 9) Pushed people in agencies under their control to put out pro-war messages about Iraq http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...?referrer=digg [/ QUOTE ] Again, clearly not a good thing, but evil? Ehhh I dunno. Maybe a bit much. Pretty much everyone voted for the war IIRC. My point in doing this isn't to defend Cheney, but to point out how ludicrous it is to single him out (much less using the word "evil") when more or less our entire federal gov't has been complicit in some pretty bad stuff since...basically forever. Besides that, for someone to qualify as "evil," they usually have to do some pretty dark things that are supported by less than ~30% of Americans. (Which is not to say that people never do evil things, just that referring to an individual as "evil" is pretty over-the-top unless we're talking about a Hitler-like figure.) |
