Any professional sport leagues vs. Gambling Bill?
Are there any sport leagues in US that might support legalization of online gambling? A lot of European soccer leauges collect huge profits via selling ad space to (mostly) internet gambling companies. What about MLS? Have anyone from PPA tried contacting them?

Re: Any professional sport leagues vs. Gambling Bill?
The pro and collegiate stance on sports-betting is, "We hate it! Bad gambling! Go away!"
Of course, people don't pick up NFL Sunday Ticket for $200+ because, "They really like the foosball". Anyway, to answer your question...no. |

The XFL has come out in favor.

"He Hate Me", formerly of the Las Vegas Posse, is their lobbyist.

Every newspaper in the US runs the points/lines, and NFL teams are fined if they don't say who is injured and possibly not playing due to injury. But gambling is bad, yeah.
"The XFL has come out in favor." I'd guess the WNBA is too, no one bets on them either. |

Re: Any professional sport leagues vs. Gambling Bill?
It just amazes me that NFL is in support of the Anti-Gambling Bill.
As an avid sports bettor, I follow just about every televised college and pro football game and then some. If I was not allowed to bet, I would watch only Seminoles and Bucs,,,, and that is it. It just seems that the NFL would rather me buy the NFL ticket, and watch every pro game I can, including watching pre game shows... etc... |

If it ever looked like something would legitimately ban sports-betting I would be willing to wager that they would step in. "Whoa...I mean we hate gambling but...is this really necessary? I mean what's it really hurt?" As a Niner fan I can't live and die with the Bengals (or any other team) on any given Sunday if there isn't a little action on the game. I'm pretty sure the NFL is aware that if it wasn't for gambling, a pretty big chunk of their viewing audience would find something better to do after their favorite team played. |
