I think to get one of those girls to have sex with you would be the ultimate pickup artist achievement.

Everyone keeps saying how dumb and idiotic and illogical these people are, but IMO, they are not being that illogical at all. Can someone explain where their problems with logic come in and how you can refute what they are saying?

In my opinion, it seems like they are only making slight misinterpretations of the bible and then demonstrating those ideas in the worst way possible.

I feel like they only have a few minor flaws with their biblical interpretations:
1) homosexuality is a blatant sin according to scripture (note: many christian denominations still believe the act of homosexuality is a sin)
2) god hates people who actively sin and does not try to repent for their sins and change their ways. -> they are going to hell

I don't really see many holes in their logic in the videos apart from these underlying misinterpretations.

[/ QUOTE ]

The trouble with this sort of line is that it makes you seem sympathetic to them and that would make you a crazy person.
These people are hate mongers, nothing else.
It's warming to know that they got served with this 11mil lawsuit. I'm actually surprised these people have not been killed. I would love to help fund a church wide hit. Anyone got a link?

I'd really like to find out if there was some way to stop this people. Some of what they do must be illegal. Isn't there a "fighting words" clause of the 1st Amendment?

In any case, what surprises me the most is that some hardcore marine father of a dead US soldier hasn't lost it and killed one of these nuts when they protest his sons funeral.

my friend who is currently in Iraq just said to me on IM...

they should have a sign that says " thank god for soldiers who fight and die to protect my right to protest and write stupid signs"

which sums it up pretty well

I think this is the most ironic thing about the whole story. If they hate America so much, why don't they go and protest somewhere else...

Oh, wait... America is the only place (one of the very few) in the world where they can do this [censored] legally/would survive for more than one protest.

All,

http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homep...F%20CHARACTERS

That is a link with much more information about Fred Phelps than the documentary. It is very, very disturbing. There is a lot there to read, but if you have any interest in this cult, I encourage you to scan the article. The parts detailing the lives of Fred's children are absolutely horrific.

While this is a nice sound bite turned cliche, I don't think it's true.

It can be argued that soldiers in Iraq are fighting and dying to protect US interests which may be noble, but I don't see any kind of case for them fighting to protect our right to protest. The argument for them protecting our lives seems quite thin as well.

Of course this isn't their fault.

He didn't say "Thank god for soldiers in Iraq."

Without our military we would not have the rights and liberties we have, regardless of what their current mission is.
