Default NL 5/10 - weak tight? nit ? or just plain bad?

villain was good postflop and very aggressive 25/20 type stats

same villain as above. i check the flop for pot control and to get value from weaker hands or draws w/o building a huge pot. i think this may be one of those taylor caby sayings, "if we check to him to induce a bet, we have to call."
