Where is Fristsux (did you filter yourself out?)? Also tunderhill seems pretty donkish to me. I am really surprised that he is doing so well.

you bring up a good point: it is my belief that everyone is playing over their roll right now. i mean esriously, how can anyone be properly rolled for 5/10 after taxes?

[/ QUOTE ]

i put aside money for taxes (always a rough estimate of what i'll owe in addition to my previous quarterly payments) and don't count it as my bankroll, and i also only play stakes i'm overrolled for. is that a good enough answer?

[/ QUOTE ]

Is "quarterly payments" the recommended play when it comes to paying taxes from poker? also, are there any forums specific to taxes?

[/ QUOTE ]

I can't understand how many poker players don't have accountants: if you're not paying quarterly estimated payments as a professional gambler you are going to get hit with fines (pretty massive ones that are big enough that you should go to an accountant and talk to him) if this is your 2nd year as a professional gambler. I'm pretty positive about that last part (2nd year), but I'm absolutely sure about the fines: I paid about $900 in fines just for underpaying in my estimated payments last year.

[/ QUOTE ]
At what point do you need to file as a professional? I just payed taxes on last years winnings as gambling but I don't think that's gonna fly with how much I've already made and will make this year. Does being a student matter or should you base it on how much you make?

Edit: I do have an accountant but I just wanted to know what other people are doing.

I just PM'ed FWF about this, but I am looking for Stars money and have FTP.

Will do up to 10k, but would prefer 4-7k.

PM or AIM me.

Have to scroll down to find me. Most of my played hands don't sneak into my observed database; only when my mining windows user account hits the same tables I'm playing.

But, if you were curious, my played database says +1.36 over 77k, while the observed database says -1.45 over the 30k it has (both filtered to Jan-March, $400 6-max only). So that should tell you how meaningless these numbers are.

I mean I'm sure there are some people on this forum who can beat them for more, but they're not good. The 2.6 that ddubois has me running at is pretty accurate, and I've had a 30k hand breakeven stretch every month this year....
