I know some people dont agree with raising here but I really think you either raise or fold here. Just make a PSR and I think it makes it pretty easy to play.

I think the biggest problem with this hand is the lack of a preflop raise.

Do you definitely have to raise the flop?

[/ QUOTE ]

Not at all.

I'd disagree.

You have TPTK. Nobody raised pre-flop, so we can rule out overpairs. The board has a flush and a straight draw on it. You can't let players behind you take 3:1 to draw. You must make weaker J's pay in case a card like... oh I don't know maybe a Q comes on the turn.

Not raising this is weak.

*Grunch*

6-max id be raising this preflop- may stop this being 5 handed thus will play out easier (hopefully).
As played mini-raise bad play, id raise $12-15
A played if villian pots the turn id be folding (is this weak?)
Cheers..

No. It's close. You could make an argument for calling based on implied odds. Villain has shown enough strength for it to be reasonable to assume we are getting the rest of his stack, if we hit. Implied odds are 180:40. Throw in Aces as outs and we are there, If we are up against a set, we are not.

Pushing is bad. Seems to me as if we are behind and need to hit. We may as well save our money if we miss.

Normally I agree with both of you, but not in this situation.

With 5 limpers in the pot it's pretty rare in my experience that you will be able to win the pot with TPTK. I realize that there are draws on the board and I loathe giving anyone on a draw behind me such good drawing odds. However... there are just too many people that saw that flop. Chances are good that OP is behind here, but there are a lot of cards that can help OP's hand on the turn.

I think a raise here only folds out worse hands and better hands will simply reraise you. Once you get reraised you should be folding. So, I think in this instance it helps you more to give odds to anyone drawing when chances are good that you need to improve to win.

In this situation I think:

calling >>> raising >>> folding

lol, I've taken a two week break from NL to play limit and I see a limit player here Raise pf and make a real flop raise (your mini-raise is bad). Fold to a re-re-raise (unless opponent is an idiot). Top pair is not worth as much in nl as it is limit.
