Default NLTRN - success breeds success

Soon after signing up at FT, I went through an ugly downswing (could never be bad play, oh no it had to have been variance!). I tried the whole 'wait for a player to sit down, sharkscope him and if he's bad play', but all the sharks are doing this too and would jump in before me. So I got lazy and just sat in and played whoever and whoever tended to be sharks since my ROI was negative for a while.

Anyway I managed work my way up to the happy place of + ROI land and since then it seems that the players who sit down with me are largely new or -ROI people who don't know about sharkscope. This is a rather nice situation.

I don't know how relevant the above is but perhaps if you do have a -ROI either play the lower buy-ins until it goes positive or sharkscope people before u play.

If your - ROI was due to a downswing and you are actually capable of being a winning player at that level you might be able to use the fishy impression that your stats give to your advantage against better players.

When I am in an early tough spot against a player who has bad stats I don't initially give him credit for hands as much as I do winning players.
