Live 8/16, 2 hands postflop

Both of these hands happened almost right as I sat down, both villains were both older asian gentlemen.

Pardon the stereotyping but that typically means TAG preflop, Tight Passive postflop, or Tight Passive all around. Tend not to be calling stations without less than TP. But this has yet to be proven to be true by either of the villains.

Hand 1:

Hero is LP OTB with AKo
UTG+1 raises, 2 cold-calls, folds to Hero, Hero raises, all call.

4 to flop:
9 8 3r
checks to hero, Hero bets, UTG+1 calls, 2 folds.

2 to turn:
9 no bd flush draw
check, Hero checks(?)

2 to river:
8
check, Hero bets.

Standard? bet turn?


Hand 2:

From what I can tell table is full of weak tighties, only 2-3 to flop and lots of chopped blinds.

Hero is UTG+2 with KJo

2 folds, Hero raises, Button calls, blinds fold

Hand 2 is kinda bad. I'd fold PF, and I don't bet the river cuz I can't imagine anyone checking a pair on the turn but that's because I assume everyone plays like me. I guess he'll fold small pocket pairs here some if he really is weak tight.

Haha funny thing.
I actually requested table change from Hand 1's table where the action was just as dead and got to this dead table, which was a rarity at this casino. Once again I called for next table change and found the fish pond.

BTW, how is a river bet on Hand 1 to hopefully fold out his Ace high?

in hand one you really need to consider that 8/16 players are extremely bad at poker and will frequently opencheck their pocket pairs on a double paired board. It doesn't make any sense to do that from our perspective, because we can read hands and know how to value bet, but these guys don't play like that. They think "oh damn any nine or any 8 and I am up against a fullhouse. I better check my JJ here I don't wanna get raised"

Betting here will rarely allow you to steal half the pot (any other ace chops on a double paired board)
and it will frequently just cost you an extra bet when villain turns over TT and is surprised that he won.

hand 2 fold pf. river bet actually isn't a bad spot for a bluff against alot of opponents, but if you are against a callingstation type it's hapless.

Betting the river on Hand 2 is superior to betting the river on Hand 1, in my opinion.

Hand 1 I would bet the turn. Lots of draws and weak made hands are letting go of this for the double-sized turn bet, including overcards. Once you check the turn you aren't going to shake most live players on the river. The pot here is big (7bb), you've got it heads up against a player who raised preflop and then went ultra passive on a low board. Firing the turn (and probably the river) is almost a necessity. Your opponent will fold way more than the 1 in 7 you need.

In hand 1 I'd fire another barrel on the turn. He'll lay it down there a lot. Folding to a raise is easy since the top card just paired...I think. As played I'd just check the river. He's not folding an ace.

In hand 2....I'd fold pf, but play if suited. Regarding the post flop action, I'm not really sure what to do. With no read whatsoever, I'd probably check the flop, hoping he'd check behind, then donk the turn. If he bet the flop, I honestly might just fold. The pot is small and it's a pretty darn dry board.
