Re: Revisiting the Forum Split Idea
I'd vote against it but only because I play NL25 right now and would be a tweener. I think I speak for most at this level who really appreciate the excellent advice we get from the NL50 players. I'll be playing NL50 very shortly anyway but definitely want to comment on the NL25 hands as I've spent so much time playing there.
Plus, I really enjoy reading posts by the middle stakes players because it gives aspiring players like me great insight into what it's like to grind for a living there. Of course I could still read both forums but with my time constraints I know I wouldn't. Anyway, I can roll with whatever happens, just my 2 cents. |

Re: Revisiting the Forum Split Idea
One other point I would like to make.
Not only does uNL play differently from ssNL, each level plays differently from each other as well. I like to thumb through and read the strategy posts for the level I play (100NL). But there is more to this than simply being able to find relevant posts. When I partake in strategy posts (admittingly quite rare lately but trying to get back into it) I like to go through and do several hands in a row. I think others do this as well. So then we end up with a front page that is predominantly one level. I think this problem has the potential of discouraging posts. If I played 10NL and was new here and the front page was all 100NL/200NL posts I might be hesitant to put my meaningless hand there. |

[/ QUOTE ] But the front page isn't all 100/200 and 10NL isn't meaningless. Steelerman, np. This is basically what I said in the linked thread. So long as the higher level players don't feel compelled to be bothered by the lower stake threads (which they shouldn't if they continue to be labeled correctly), then it's a definite win for the micro players to have the higher stakes here with us. |

Actually, if you look right now it's:
200NL 100NL 50NL 100NL 100NL 100NL |

Re: Revisiting the Forum Split Idea
I'm not saying 10NL is meaningless. Just suggesting that a new poster might feel that way with all the higher stakes on the front page.

I just wanted to clarify that the reason I said that I believe there is too much traffic has to do with the signal to noise ratio. Nothing else.

Actually, if you look right now it's: 200NL 100NL 50NL 100NL 100NL 100NL [/ QUOTE ] Guess it depends on your number of threads per screen option, but you are correct that the first several are definitely higher limits right now. Think that's mainly due to the fewer number of recreational players (who are also frequently playing lower limits) on during the day. And regarding the "meaningless" comment, I know it was not your intention to be disparaging. I imagine there will be enough traffic one day that a split will be basically unavoidable, but I just don't think we are there yet. |

Edit: I don't really mean I don't "care" rather that I don't feel qualified to comment on a 10nl hand...when I read those threads my first thought is always "it's $10! arrrrrrrr in!" [/ QUOTE ] from donk in the other thread about this my thoughts exactly when I see nl10 hands, but then I stop and actually make a post on an amusing note its amazing how often just blindly posting shove is the correct play for nl10 hands that get posted |
