Default About Ed and Elaine Brown, the couple who refused to pay taxes..

They got arrested.

[ QUOTE ]
Tax protesters Ed and Elaine Brown were tricked by US Marshals who entered their home yesterday afternoon posing as supporters . The Marshals entered the house at a time when there were no other supporters present and catching the Browns off guard were able to arrest them and remove them from the property.

I guess it could have ended worse. I really was hoping something good would come of this ordeal though.

It is almost always something good when lawbreakers go to prison Plus, there is the amusement factor of them falling for some ruse and getting taken into custody when their supporters have been waiting patiently for the great martyring.

I saw this on CNN today - no discussion of whether the tax is actually legit or not, just "look at the evil people getting arrested after being tricked by the cops, hehehe"

Bad coverage.

Word. Now only if that damn John Zenger were still alive, we could retry him. Don't get me wrong, Ed Brown was a nutcase, but not because he wouldn't pay taxes.

Is it the mandatory taxation that is tyrannical and evil?

Can you direct me to the part of the constitution that states that the government cannot tax the citizens?
