Default NL100 Draws don\'t pay on river, right ?

NL 0.5/1 6-max, 5 handed

Stack sizes
SB (99.05)
BB (93.85)
UTG (142.65)
MP (247.90)
Hero (98.50)

Preflop: T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
UTG calls, MP folds, Hero raises to $5, SB folds, BB calls, UTG calls

Flop: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($15.5, 3 players)
BB checks, UTG donkbets $1, Hero manraises to $13, BB folds, UTG calls

Turn: K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($41.5, 2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks

River: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($41.5, 2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $11, UTG folds

I think I misplay the turn and check way too often in general. In hands like these for example, where villain takes a pretty obvious I'm-a-donkey-on-a-draw line, I should probably bet a reasonable amount on the turn (and probably folding to any resistance) instead of going for pot control right ?

If he's loose passive as most donkeys are then yes you can value bet the turn for $20 and not put any more money in the pot. I agree that these minbets are almost always the idiot villain trying to get a free card with a draw. THe board isn't that drawy though so I actually don't mind how you played it. But like I said before betting 20 on the turn and checking behind on the river is probably a better play against a loose passive

Bet $20 on the turn. If you put him on a draw, you probably still have the best hand. You might even fold a better jack. Then the river is an easy check behind if he calls the turn.

Jay I think this is wrong. What are we value-betting against? I doubt villain has a worse MADE hand here and if he's drawing betting $30ish seems a little better as with $20 we're giving him odds to hit that straight/flush, no?

why bet the river? are you trying to get looked up by a 4 or 5? or a flush draw that hit the 9? you're probably not getting called often, but it doesn't seem like you're going to be good more than 50% when you do get called.

I dont like this at all. Getting c/r here would suck, Im trying to get to showdown as cheaply as possible.

why? c/r here = we are not ahead and it's an easy fold. since most of his hands, on this board, are drawing, how can we check the turn?

I don't really like this hand at all.

A manraise on the flop would be a bit more than $13, and if you have him pegged as drawing after the flop why not bet the turn? The river bet size seems weak and awkward, as well.

Bomb the turn for over 30 and win the hand - if called check behind on the river.

Value-bet the turn for $30ish.
