New CYber Law

Not really. I don't surf porn online, don't makebad statements about the King and I don't SPAM others.

The way it reads to me, the intent of the law is to catch/ stop these sorts of crimes as well as give the police a tool to attack hackers.

Pretty much, I still think along the lines that If you go looking for trouble, you'll find it, if you stay "clean" in all other regards, I doubt they're coming after a simple online poker player without other motivations/suspicious activities.

Was going to shoot you a pm to thank you for the secret cliff. Beautiful. I went there on my 30th and it owned.

The Impiana was really really good. It was pretty balla, great service, food, everything spot on. Also it has HBO which helps when the weather turns

Favorite Street Carts in Patong:[*]gouping of like 5 carts (after around 7pm) near Mr Singhs Fashion House in Patong on Rhat tu Thit Rd. All awesome. I recco the won ton soup for 30THB[*]If you can handle Spicy then try just about any of the pappaya salad carts (like allover but my GFs fav is infront of a FamilyMart on Phrat Barami Rd.[*]Just about any pancake cart you see. They are all scrumptulicious crepe like yummies. Go for the banana and egg pancake (around 35THB) FTW!

Restaurants:[*]Secret CLiff: Pricer than a street cart (around $15/head inc a couple of drinks) but muy delicioso and amazing panorama. This is on the road between Patong and Karon Beaches, nestled on the top of a cliff.[*]Nanai Rd BBQ and beer garden. For 120THB it's an all you can eat buffet where they bring you a big ole pot sat on a flaming pit and you cook beef, pork, prawn, other fish, etc until you can't eat anymore. This is on Nanai Rd in Patong (across the road from Ting Tong Fish and Chips which incidently is the best F&C I've found if you dig that)[*]Toy's restaurant, also on Nanai Rd just about 200meters down from BBQ, for a laid back open air restaurant serving both western and Thai dishes. That's where I get spaghetti or breakfast when I can't be arsed to make it myself.

Bars:[*]Bamboo Bar in Rawai(bout 15km from Patong) for very laid back and friendly time with no bargirls. (The owner is an uber friendly Germanz dood I did a visa run with)[*]Scruffy Murphys: Irish Bar on Bangla Rd in Patong which often has live music.[*]Rock City: On the beach road in Patong for live rock music fom about 9PM-230AM. (I reccomend going at around 11PM cus the 1st band tends to venture towards teh suck.)[*]Seduction Disco: Bangla Rd. midnigh to 1AM every night, 30THB(like $0.90) mixed drinks, best DJing and fairly live dancing crowd with a bunch of farang girls always letting loose in there.[*]La Baia Bar/Lounge: On the Holiday Inn rd in Patong. Think NYC cosmo bar crossed with Thai relaxation and an upper floor of just giant futons for chilling out whilst drinking listening to the DJ spin.[*]Tiger Disco: A much more runeth down but heavily full nightspot with booming housish music and tons of both farangs and freelance working girls.[*]FBI Tai Pan: Hopping Bar/dancy place with a good mix of reg Thai Girls letting loose, freelancer working girls, and random drunk farangs.

Hotels: This really depends upon your price range.[*]Proper resort hotel: Multipe but pricey[*]Upscale Guesthouse I have several reccos in the <1000THB/night range[*]Confortable but not posh Guesthouses: Several reccos in the 600THB/night range

Hope that helps!

regarding hotels, i am interested in guesthouses in Phuket around 1000THB, give or take a bit. Will i regret not having a place right on the beach, or is it nice to be a bit away from everyone?
Very detailed suggestions, exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks

2p2er Ski is in Thailand.

I have a question: How long are you allowed to stay their visa-wise? Do you pay taxes on poker winnings?

Dunno if I could live there but its a damn fun place to go for 1 month.

Visas come in two basic flavours for tourists.

30day visa which you just get a stamp at the border. You can use 3 of these in any rolling 180 day period. That means after 30 days you have to make a "visa run" across the border. Once you use 90 days worth of 30 day visas you have to exit the country for at least 90 days.

The 60+30 day visa. Goto your local Thai embassy, pay like $25 and pick up your ppassport the next day and you have a single entry 60 day visa which can be extended at a Thai immo office within Thailand (IE No visa run reqd). At the end of the 90 days you either do the one day visa run for a 30 day stamp or spend 2 days in a bordering country to get another 60+30.

WRT Taxes.....??????Huh? What are they?
