Re: Buying a Pontiac Solstice: brag or beat?
[ QUOTE ]
GXP is supercharged. And the Miata has NOOO STYLE compared to the Solstice. I looked at the Saturn Sky Red as a viable alternative because it looks sort of hot, but still not as good as the Solstice. holland, username? [/ QUOTE ] GR33D1982. . . will you be slumming it with me at 100NL after your cashout? Stick is easy just give it plenty of gas when you're starting out so you don't stall. It will take you a few weeks to get smooth at it and if you [censored] up the clutch you can always have it replaced under warranty. |

Most warranties consider clutches to be "wear" items (like tires and brakes), so they won't replace it. I wouldn't want to learn to drive stick on a new car, but if you have to you, you will. Just try to stay off the clutch as much as possible. |

Beat: it has about 2 square feet of storage and will be my only car [/ QUOTE ] Nice looking car, but you may soon live to regret this. I suspect you'll be dumping this car within 2 years at a net loss. |

Re: Buying a Pontiac Solstice: brag or beat?
I thought for a while about getting one of these (or the saturn version, the sky redline). My predictions:
You will have a lot of fun driving this car. They are pretty sporty and the engine puts out a lot of power for the size - plus it's got a torque curve that I didn't think was possible with a piston engine. You should definitely take it to the track. Auto crossing is a great way to do this - it's cheap, low risk, and very welcoming to total noobs. You will be disappointed in the overall quality / fit and finish of the car. One review I was reading was testing a brand new Sky redline and the roof already leaked in the rain. Also, the roof was such a pain to put up that the reviewers had competitions to see who could do it the fastest. The engine is pretty new so it's hard to say how well it'll hold up over time. I would definitely take full advantage of the warranty and make the dealership fix every little thing that goes wrong. |

Re: Buying a Pontiac Solstice: brag or beat?
Gr33D.. I might be down to NL50 after the cashout before I can grind back up to NL200
I'm surprised paying in cash is considered poor finances.. I have access to at least 120k in cash, and so why not pay in full? If I get rid of it in 2 years, what does it matter if the car is paid for or not, I'm on the hook for that 22k either way aren't I? |
