Default Just a Thought

Ok obviously it is illegal in US to have Online Gambling. I am just so confused on this.

#1. If it is illegal how can we still play? And how come some allow US players others Dont?

#2 My theory: Ok now since we can't legally gamble what is the big deal about it. If the US TAXED the online gaming commisions, they can rake in MILLIONS. Now lets say US legalized online poker, they can do this.

Lets say 100k people joined, and played online poker. They went to go cashout, it would cost them $2 per 100$, at a max of $100. That cashout money should go DIRECTLY to the government, and they would get a cut from everybody.

I dont get why they dont make a system like that or something. Or if the Online Gaming Companys were charged on the AVG. # of people.

Couldnt the US rake in on this?

That was quite a eureka moment.

The simple answer is that the interwebs are hard to block. If the gov't wanted to do it, they surely could, just like China. They have bigger fish to fry.

There are lots of taxes to be gained by regulating the interwebs gaming. However, you are thinking rationally and that is not the way the govt thinks.

Logic and rational thought have no place in Federal politics.

Besides the "take" for the US gov't would be BILLIONS annually.

From what I understand of the UIGEA (very little), it does NOT make it illegal to "have" online gambling. Primarily it focuses on financial transactions related to that gambling.

But, check the master sticky at the top of the forum for better summaries than mine. Search should reveal a number of long threads on the UIGEA and what the effects truly are.
