Is pokeroffice a step too far?

I am looking into getting pokeroffice as I am starting to play IPoker which PAHud does not support. So basically getting pokeroffice to do the same as PAHud and PT does combined.

Looking at the overlay on the pokeroffice site I noticed that the overlay shows your odds of improving and the pot odds the pot is offering you!! Whoa slow down! this is way way more information than PAHud offers and looks to be virtually cheating if it allows you to always make the correct mathematical decision in certain spots. Sure you still have to use the info wisely, in the screenshot example the player is getting pot odds of 7-1 with a 8-1 chance of inproving to 2 pair or better on the flop but it is still a clear fold.

But this information will still allow you to play perfectly when you have a purely drawing hand and the other guy has just bet allin. You can see clearly then whether you have the odds or not.

So is pokeroffice taking its overlay too far or am I missing something obvious. Also on a more personal note is it worthwhile to get the thing (is it any good) regardless if I think it might actually help "too" much? May seem a funny question but I would kind of like to make some decisions myself at the table and not be told by a computer program whether I should call or fold.

It's probably in the grey area since it does kind of tell you what to do in certain situations, like the one you mentioned with the allin. On the other hand, most decent players can determine this on their own pretty quickly and bad players will use the pot odds wrong more often than they use it correctly so I'm not too concerned.

If it said "Call" or "Raise" then that's where I think it would clearly be going too far (edit: even if the advice is wrong)

Umm, it does nothing that you can't do on your own or use any number of other tools to do. It's not cheating and theres no gray area involved. I don't know of a poker site that doesn't allow it either.

pokerrewards, a prima skin actually has a free download that will calculate odds for you.

Exactly. Using a calculator to figure out the odds isn't cheating so why would it be if a software shows you the odds right away?

I don't use the odds overlay. I know the normal odds/outs as any player does (or should), so all it has left would be to make recommendations as you said. The recommendations for 'playable' hands, as it shows, tend to be overly optimistic so that part is fairly useless IMHO.

It's a great program though. Check out the Hand Analysis tab where it shows your results for different flops, and how each type of action worked for you. Invaluable.

Having done investigation on the matter - not cheating, no grey area, lots of other poker room 'approved' software does it.

Rule of thumb - if info can be had via calculator, odds chart, pen and paper, it's fine.

Datamining of data where your not playing - a no no.

Just for the record, I take back that grey area comment. What I meant was that out of everything Poker Office does, the pot odds calculator is the only thing that might be grey area because in some situations, like the all-in OP talked about it could do your thinking for you but really, it is not grey at all.
