cash games and 2 left you can say what you like. In tourneys - no.

There is no dispute here - Stars admit the rules were broken but it still doesn't seem to matter. That is the point

[/ QUOTE ]
I read them to say it does matter and they think a warning is adequate at this time. I agree and you don't.

Ok guys thanks for the comments. Consensus seems to be that PokerStars handled it ok. Not sure if this means it is ok to break any poker rule or just this one. Perhaps it would be better if there was just one rule - that being "there are no rules"

Stars handled this incredibly well.

OP seems to be exaggerating the significance of this situation.
OP's insistence that "brave calls are made all the time" is kind of over-the-top. Stars is politely saying that it would have been unlikely for this player to call anyway so they are concluding that the outcome of the tournament wasn't affected.
However, they do agree that this is a violation of the rules and they gave details of how they warned this player that such violations will not be tolerated in the future.

They seemed to have a very clear understanding of everything that was happening here.

At no point does Stars say or even vaguely imply that it is okay to break their rules.

MicroBob says:

"At no point does Stars say or even vaguely imply that it is okay to break their rules."

No they didn't actually use those words - but there was NO penalty for a rule break that may have affected the outcome. Now I would have said that implied it but you can have a different take.

Yes, I agree they are saying he did not have a good hand and was unlikely to call. You must play on a different planet if you don't see players making "brave" calls.

By "brave" we all know that to mean bad calls. I play mainly S&G's between $20-$100 and I see numerous "brave" calls at all stakes. But I bow to your superior knowledge in that nobody on Stars makes idiotic calls.

The undisputed fact is that the rules were broken. I accept that the call may not have been made. I accept I probably would have bubbled anyway. However, we will never know and if breaking rules means there is even the remotest possibility that a player loses money then his stake should be refunded at the very least.

Stop being a nit.

[ QUOTE ]
Players, whether in the hand or not, may not discuss the hands until the action is complete. Players are obligated to protect the other players in the tournament at all times. Discussing cards discarded or hand possibilities is not allowed. A penalty may be given for discussion of hands during the play. Note: the purpose of this rule is to protect the interests of players who are still in the tournament but not in the current hand. Please see our Prohibited Tournament Chat examples for further information. More specifically, this rule does not apply to situations where only two players remain in a tournament, or the tournament began as a heads-up match.
In case of disputes, PokerStars management decision will be final.

[/ QUOTE ]

Now, you can see clearly the guy broke the rule, but where can you find in here that shows stars is going against their policy in regards to breaking their rules?
