I hope this is a level. How did he play this hand great? He had a ten high flush on a non paired board against a total retard.

If Jamie had the higher flush and Doyle laid it down, the haters would be saying it was one of the best laydowns on tv. Jamie believed he had the best hand, Doyle read that, and acted accordingly. Remember--more often than not in these situations, Doyle makes the right move.

I love how this one hand defines the people who understand poker and those that dont.

I strongly suspect anyone disagreeing with Doyles play has never played above 25NL or their weekly home game - if they even play the game.

i dont know why doyle is betting the turn just to fold to a raise. with that mind set, he should just check behind and call a river bet by gold.[ QUOTE ]

LMFAO.

Yea pretty much exactly my thoughts. If you cant figure out why Doyle folds here you might never get it.

IMO, it might be close but it's a good lay down.
Doyle put Jamie on the draw most likely.
Jamie hits what he thinks is his miracle turn card then starts blabbing and talking about how he's going to bluff Doyle etc, he gives away his hand.
Doyle correctly puts him on the flush and very likely a flush better than his.
I think the problem with the hand is that Jamie was so obvious about the strenth of his hand. Once it is clear he has a flush as well, can it be +ev to get involved?

hmmmmm. Let's see what Barry has to say about this hand:

After the flush hand with Doyle and Jamie, Dolye leaned over and asked me what I thought Jamie had. I told him I thought Jamie had an Ace high straight. When Doyle told me he could beat that, I told him I wouldn't have folded. Doyle said, "I know by the way Jamie was acting that he thought he had the nuts, but I hope he didn't misjudge his own strength." Later when Jamie tells Doyle what he had, Doyle gets steamed up and costs me money with a play he wouldn't ordinarily make.

Pretty standard fold if you've got a read, and you're Doyle Brunson.
