Default Suggestions for tracking performance While at the casino?

I like to keep track of my performance in each session, and when I get home I input the info in to StatKing, which gives nice options for tracking running performance of different games/stakes or individuals games or however you choose to filter it. So when entering info in to StatKing, you specify the game and stakes you are playing, the amount of time played, and your net income or loss. That is the easy part. It is especially easy to keep track of performance after a session when playing only one table. I sit down, make a mental note of what time I started, and I know how much I bought in for, so when I cash out I see the time and how much money I have and do a little math.

I'm interested in more complex sessions and how people keep track of that. For example, sometimes I play at a table until it dies, then I may go to another table of the same game and same stakes and buy in for my normal amount (in stead of continuing w/ the number of chips I had when my previous table broke.) So now I have a number floating around in my head of how I did at the first table, and after I finish at my next table I do a little more math. Keeping that first figure in my head kind of becomes tedious after sitting at my second table for hours. And I am fortunate enough to have only played the same game/stakes for that particular night. What about when someone is playing 2/4 LHE for 3 hours, then plays 3/6 O8 for 2 hours, then maybe some 3/6 LHE or whatever. Is there an efficient way to keep track of all those number while you are still at the casino? The only thing I can imagine is keeping a small notebook and pen in my pocket, but like George Costanza says "I'm afraid the pen will puncture my scrotum." I have not had any problems w/ tracking my numbers so far, but I can see it will become a problem for me in the future since I am expanding my horizon and my BR is allowing me to play more various stakes. Is there any efficient way to do this?

*sigh* I guess there just is no other way. I really wanted to avoid having to carry around a little notebook. And your crayon suggestion is good. I wouldn't have to worry about that puncturing my scrotum lol. Or I could store them like Homer Simpson.

If you are just keeping simple notes, post-its always work for me. They have the additional benefit of being pretty discrete at the table too so you can avoid the whole this guy is keeping reads on us conversation that starts when anyone writes something down at a poker table.

prior to that i used square napkins and just put them in my wallet - phone just seems more fun - plus there are applications out there (such as PokerJournal) built right for these phones and tracking poker performance, I find that mainly useful for 4-5 day Vegas trips with many sessions before I return home

Wow, that program sounds pretty cool. I hoped there would be something like that, but I haven't thought about sending myself messages on my cell (until I decide to get a new phone). That'll be more discrete than scribbling in a notebook. I'll just be playing w/ my phone like everyone else does at the table. I play live frequently and few call me a rock but I don't want to be the notebook guy too.

You hand the dealer a USB chip drive and ask him to download your hand history.
