Re: Hand from Borgata WPT
You're the small blind and no matter what "big hand" he has, he thinks he's ahead and decides the only way to keep you in the hand is to call?
I have no [censored] idea Justin. You're psycho and if you don't answer this tonight I'm going to sit on you. |

Re: Hand from Borgata WPT
This is a shove. He is going to fold every single hand except QJ (which he obv doesnt have b/c of preflop) seeing as he is a total nit. What a perfect spot to bluff with a set.

Re: Hand from Borgata WPT
Maybe I'm messing up the live rules, but I don't get how this can be an angleshoot (in terms of an intention to raise, but only 'accdentally'). Won't the floor usually say it's a call? If it's an angelshoot, it's an attempt to look strong/fold out UTG without actually having to raise. If it's an honest mistake, then again he is trying to call. Seems like he is weak enough to call to me.

Major Hint: People are focusing too much on what this hand is, and not enough on what this hand is not. [/ QUOTE ] If this has something to do with card combos I am going to be so disappointed. I will be disappointed more if this post is some crazy metaphysical thing which goes way over my head. |

Re: Hand from Borgata WPT
What about the fact that you and the Armenian were silent and not disputing the fact that he was raising?
Ugh that makes it seem like he is definitely angleshooting. So lost. |

Re: Hand from Borgata WPT
I don't think I have seen anyone post this but I guess i'll take a shot...
The BB in this hand like you said is guy in his mid 30's, probably isn't rich, and most likely satellited into the tournament. Since this is most likely to be one of the biggest tournaments hes ever played, he probably likes to take his time to think through his decisions and play carefully. Preflop he announces raise and then decides how much exactly he wants to put in, but then on the turn without thinking he just tosses in 6k and then 3 seconds later says call? I think its a fold on the turn because a)based on description and the way he played preflop he is probably playing carefully and so I don't think he meant to call and b)when he is normally playing carefully and checks through this flop and tosses in 6k on the turn without thinking he was probably thinking on the flop he was going to slowplay and either get the armenian to make a bluff on the flop or get you to bet out on the turn. don't know if i worded this well i just woke up and am a bit groggy but hopefully it makes sense |

Re: Hand from Borgata WPT
i posted this in high stakes NL, and suspect it is correct......
i didnt read the thread but i would call i dont think hes good enough to shove the river without AA/KK because as you said he seems straightforward. QJ is out of his range (again cause hes straightforward), so i think he wanted to call but isnt upset that he raised, so it seems like he has AK/AA/KK, and you should call and see what he does on the river and make your decision then. I highly suspect he would check behind AK on the river because you said he needs a bit more aggression in his game, and since he doesnt really care if he raised or called i suspect its AA KK AK, and he probably bets AA/KK and checks AK (cause you could easily have QJ) so i think i call, check and pray he checks and show down my set. |

[/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] The BB is a white guy in his mid 30's with a sports cap. He doesn't seem rich, and probably satellited into this event. He has had a beer or two, and has been talking about football with another player at the table. He seems like a relatively nice guy. Probably has some experience in home games and/or low stakes in the casinos, but isn't a high stakes player. He has been tight, solid, straightforward, and not tricky at all. He bluffed once vs the old lady. It was a good bluff, and everyone at the table was surprised to see him flip it over. It wasn't a huge all-in or anything crazy like that. He could use a bit more aggression in his game, but isn't terrible by any means, and is rather good compared to the typical east coast satellite player. [/ QUOTE ] I see "tight/solid but not great/straight forward" you see "weak/tight/horrible" which one of us is wrong? |

Let's not talk about poker for a second.
[ QUOTE ] he has had a beer or two... meekishly says raise, kind of under his voice..., after 3 seconds, he says "call!" [/ QUOTE ] He's drunk. |
