Well it's 50/50, you either win or lose.

[/ QUOTE ]

So far from true

I thought people would learn to not call bets like this from playing 25NL when people didn't make value bets until rivers with overbets.

fwiw, this is exactly how I'd play AJ from SB - try to check-raise a couple of streets, and then shove when the board double-pairs hoping to get called by a lone Ace.

One of those "an Ace will call a shove, a non-Ace won't call anything, so shoving (and hoping he has a lone Ace) is better." situations.

I'd also bet the flop like 100% of the time against unknown.

[/ QUOTE ]

QFT. Nothing says "I DON'T HAVE AN ACE!" like raising pre-flop and checking behind an A-high flop.

[/ QUOTE ]

So?

Does this mean you fold AK here if you bet and get raised? After all, you bet, so villain must think you have an Ace, but is still raising, right?

Your logic is all messed up here. Why do you care if villain thinks you have an Ace? You think he was going to fold HIS ace because he was worried about his kicker? Are you "worried" that villain will try to bluff now that he "knows" you don't have an Ace? If so, why the hell would that be a bad thing?

But you risk 200 to win what was a pot of 24. I dont think its worth it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Irrespective of the merits of this hand, this kind of logic is idiotic.

Villain does not get to take back his money if you call. You are risking $200 to win $224. If it were really 50/50, you'd be retarded NOT to call for a $12 profit.

What was in the pot before villain pushed is irrelevant from an odds perspective. The fact that villain over-bet the pot is perhaps of some informational value, but this isn't what you were getting at (or if it was, you expressed it horribly).
