This was constructive?!

edit- did you add the second paragraph later, or was I blind originally? If the latter, I rescind my comment.

Playing on a dinner table at my friends house tonight i lost 22 dollars to total idiots!!! and i dont think ive ever been this pissed ever!!! Im not sure why im so pissed, i think it's cuz they think they are good. The worst is when you get crushed and the people think they are playing good.... i want to puke. if i get min raised/string raised/raised less then the min raise one more time i think im going to jump into on coming traffic. i hate you all!!!

and here is to hoping i dont wake up.

I can relate as well. I often play a small buy-in 1 table freeze-out tourneys with friends. Last week, close to the bubble, I was able to enjoy getting the money in on the turn with KK against an unimproved AK, but then lost to the 3-outer on the river.

Then, after absorbing the beat, I had the good fortune of receiving a lecture from my buddy: "you're always thinking about the math, but the math doesn't matter - all that matters is what cards are going to come out in that hand, that river, and that is unpredictable. so all your thinking about percentages and these mythological pot odds / implied odds ideas are irrelevant."

Definitely put me on tilt more than losing 5x as much online.

someone once put me on life tilt by telling me it was impossible to be a winner at poker... the only game you could ever bet is blackjack and by memerizing all the different situations of when to hit and stand.

I started to explain ev to him then said forget it.

oh yeah op home game for $22 is an excuse to get drunk as hell and screw with people..

don't get me wrong, he's definitely on the permanent invite list.

he's that breed of fish known as a calling station. In a cash game, I'd be able to value bet him down to bankruptcy over time. But in these tourneys we play, which amount to live turbo SNG's, his ridiculous calling range often just serves to preclude blind stealing and bluffing, which can really suck when you're sitting on a 15 BB stack.

Ok i woke up! eff! Its not the 22 dollars, that wasnt the point i could wipe my azz with 22 dollars and not think twice. At the limits i play at in a casino/online i can have of 1k+ swings in a day (and i think ive had like 3 losin months of poker in 2.5 years). Its the fact that these goofballs know i play for a livin and they always ask me to teach them/ask if they play good? I want to say no! you are horrible and have no chance. But they are friends so I sugar coat it. Its a lose lose for me because if i get drunk and start screwing with them/start pounding hands they get all butt hurt and start screamin "bro its a home game". to them 22 dollars would really hurt the wallet (thats like 3 hours of work!).

ps i know im being a baby! but all the comments about how poker is all luck/insert any other retarded poker related comment had just started to quiet down. so i can look forward to those again. which puts me on full blown life tilt.

You need to see a therapist. You're getting really worked up over nothing.

This type of home game isn't even poker. Just look at it as a social event where you and some friends drink a few beers, pass some money around and talk [censored].

I had a game that really bugged me at first - smoke breaks every 15 minutes, tons of suckouts and people acting out of turn or wrong. Give up on talking theory and trying to win and just have a good time with your friends. Some other guy is pretty happy to leave with that $22, good for him.
