Re: Divorce in America
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Women cant do things on their own, they need men to take care of them. [/ QUOTE ] Ouch. [/ QUOTE ] Is that serious? Quids, I don't know what women you're hanging out with, but I know plenty who make ridiculous amounts of money as corporate laywers, bankers, whatever, and do a great job taking care of themselves (and sometimes their husbands and kids). -Al |

Re: Divorce in America
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Yes, in some states, if you are "with" the mother when the child is born, you are the presumed father/supporter, even if everyone knows someone else is the biological father. [/ QUOTE ] I think it gets worse than that. As in, the mom can refuse to get herself or the child genetically tested, and even if it is genetically tested that the father is NOT the guy who was with the girl when the kid is born, the guy has to pay anyway. I was hearing that some counties see women regularly doing a process of rolling from one county to the next to make a child support claim against various different guys for the same child. The counties don't check with each other, so some women have multiple child support checks coming in, and it's possible none at all might be coming from the father. I was hearing some guy tell his story that after 20 years of this, his girlfriend finally confessed the obvious -- that she was mad at him when they broke up and that he had a nice car, so she figured what the hell, and lived quite well on his dime for the next 20-ish years. [/ QUOTE ] stuff like this makes one wonder just how hard it is to make somebody disappear. hypothetically speaking, of course. I just can't make the leap from "you let me stick it in you for a while" to "I'm your indentured servant, so what that it's the 21st century." |
