Interesting guest on Bluff Poker Radio last night

Could someone elaborate on this player tax? I have met Prof Rose on a few occasions while being courted by medicore law schools and can't fathom that statement coming out of his mouth.

There's no player tax. Thats absurd. How would they even do that? Charge 25% of the money you deposit just to play? No one would pay that. Charge 25% of each pot? That would make the game unbeatable to anyone. Thered be a major outcry. The only 25% tax I could think of is 25% tax of revunes from rake that the internet poker rooms makes. That makes sense to me.

I tend to agree. Who the hell would play at a 'legal' Internet casino with a 25% tax when an 'illegal' casion like Poker Stars or whatever is still sitting there open for business and charges no tax. I know I wouldn't.

Couldn't they just tax you at 25% everytime you make a withdrawl? Then you factor that into your income tax calculations at the end of the year. All it does is ensure everyone pays tax on their earnings.

Right now I would wager that the majority of players in the USA report and pay nothing.

Those who do presently pay would essentially be unaffected.

Of course there's going to be a player tax. That's just common sense. The question is just how much and how will they do it.

If they do put a 25% tax on online poker winnings, I think it would hurt the online industry bad and it would be good for the casinos. I know if they did this I would quit playing online and go back to playing poker at the casino every day.

Arent we already paying at least that much in income tax? How is this different? Or is the suggestion we'd be taxed twice?

Why is it common sense that there will be a player's tax?
