Damn - well that's not going to skew the percentages or anything....

Wait - that's probably per class which isn't so bad.

I find it very amusing how people still think connections are necessary for the top ivies. Most are phasing out the favoritism of legacies, etc. They obviously still get some treatment, but no one gets into Hravard or Yale with a 1350 SAT just b/c there dad went there. Basically, they have way more than enough applicants above 1500 SAT, 4.0, etc. so legacies are an easy way to pick some out of this group. I have had two guest lecturers in seminar who came b/c they were trying to get a kid/grandkid in. They were doing this b/c they had already figured out they couldn't buy a spot wihtout a ridiculous amount of money.

My buddy got into Princeton without any real connections (this was in 2000). His scores were outstanding though. His EC weren't amazing. He was in the band.

I don't think Legacies are that big. I went to Cornell which is a "lower tier" Ivy. I don't think it hurts to have a legacy but I don't think it'll really plow your way in unless your dad is buying a building or something.

im pretty sure in the next decade Olin may move up that list, purely because they accept 75 students a year. the only reason i'd think that its only 5th is because it has only existed for a few years
