Following a strict nit regimen as you described can fairly often enough grind out an average 1-1.5ptbb/100 at 100NL. I sometimes play this method when I don't really feel like playing, but I have to put in hands anyways when working with a timeframe (i.e. for a promotion/bonus). My main game now is getting along the lines of 18/15/4, which is showing a much better winrate, and I find the game more challenging/fun when I do that.

Every nit in my database with over 10,000 hands is a small loser ~ -0.5BB/100.

I describe myself as a laggy-TAG.

I don't mind having a couple 8/4 nits at my table, because they are very easily exploitable. If I raise pf and they cold-call I can profitably c-bet 100% of the time, and fold to resistance (assuming I didnt flop a big hand myself) because they are set-mining and generally fold if they don't flop it.

In short, playing like a nit can win money from droolers, but it will be very unprofitable against good players.

[/ QUOTE ]

Everything you said there makes you exploitable to the nit.

nits don't exploit, though - that's the point.

Uh, a nit who exploits isn't a nit.

Can you also tell me which one of them you are?

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh, I forgot. I probably look like a nit or a TAG and play very tight, but I do a lot of stealing as well. Basically a nit plus deception.

[/ QUOTE ]

This sounds like my game too. What kind of stats do you run at Kurt?

[/ QUOTE ]

Over the last 25k hands I probably ran 16/11/2.

Because I give off nit vibe I get played back at a bit and I've taken to getting a little fishy (making loose calls) on later streets. Its been working OK (still winning) but the swings are nuts (making bluff-catching part of your game is not fun or advisable), so I'm working on staying aggressive on the turn and river.

ok, I dont define nit that way. I thought playing tight was exploiting players who play to loose. I didnt realize nit = donk. Donk is what I call someone who never exploits. So to the OP no you cant win and be a Donk. gl at the tables though : )

since when is 16/11 being a nit? I always thought that this was the definition of tag.
